SeaAngel
The future of offshore wind

Mitsubishi Power Systems Europe is proud to introduce SeaAngel, a 7MW class offshore specific wind turbine.

Our SeaAngel offshore wind turbine will feature pioneering Digital Displacement® hydraulic transmission technology from Artemis, coupled with a rotor diameter of over 165m. You can read our Press Release here.

Digital Displacement® Technology

The Digital Displacement® Transmission hydraulic system from Artemis Intelligent Power replaces the port plates and swash plates in conventional hydraulic machines with computer controlled high speed solenoid valves. Digital Displacement® Transmission enables very high operating efficiency, even in part-load conditions. It also provides unprecedented controllability, especially in multi-service and synchronised applications.

You can read more about out demonstration unit being tested at Yokohama Dockyard & Machinery Works here

The Benefits of SeaAngel

High quality electrical output – The SeaAngel offshore wind turbine uses synchronous generators which rotate at a constant speed. These enable SeaAngel offshore wind turbines to deliver a consistent and high quality electrical output.

High reliability and robust drive system – In the Digital Displacement® Transmission system, many pumps work together sharing the burden with each protected from overload – unlike generator drive train systems. Therefore SeaAngelhas built in redundancy.

Lower maintenance costs – SeaAngel offshore wind turbines use a large number of common parts, most of which are small enough to be carried by an individual technician. There is no inverter, which is a common source of failure.

Less complex and made from easily sourced materials –  The system is made from commonly available, recyclable steel.
